Refresher Skills & TSOP

The skills session is designed to allow you an opportunity to review, remediate, and practice all psychomotor skills within your scope of practice.

The skills session is designed to allow you an opportunity to review, remediate, and practice all psychomotor skills within your scope of practice. While you are with us, we will cover all North Carolina Office of EMS (NCOEMS) approved skills for your credential level. We review and practice the skills with you to ensure entry-level competence.

The sessions are low-stress, student friendly, and many times one-on-one with the instructor. We focus on YOUR needs and wants! We will spend as much or as little time as necessary to ensure you are comfortable, confident, and competent in each skill. Our instructors are directed to assume you are “rusty” at best and let YOU drive the pace of the session.

Technical Scope of Practice Evaluations (TSOP’s)

The skill session is designed to prepare you for the final psychomotor tests called Technical Scope of Practice Evaluations (TSOPs). TSOPs are scenario-based examinations that encompass all the competencies required by the NCOEMS. You must complete 2 TSOP’s; one adult and one pediatric.

Who Is Required to Attend:

Anyone that needs to complete a “refresher course” is required to complete skills reviews and PASS Both TSOP’s. This includes:

1. Anyone with an expired credential

2. Anyone that needs a “State Approved Refresher” course, ie: National Registry Applicants

Where:

Unless other arrangements have been made and approved by 911 e-Learning Solutions, the skills and TSOP session is held at 911 e-Learning Solutions. The address is 670 A Radio Drive, Lexington NC 27292.

How to Schedule Your Session:

When you are close to being finished with the online portion of the course, you will contact us with at least 3 dates and times that you are available to attend. We will confirm the availability of our lab and instructors and confirm a date and time with you.

What to Expect:

We advise students to plan on being here all day, however, most students are usually finished in about 4 hours. The instructor also plans to be here all day. We are here for you and to make the experience a positive one.

You will meet with a skills instructor at our office to complete a skills review. After the skills review is finished and you are comfortable, we will move to the TSOP portion where you will complete 2 scenarios. Once you have completed all online requirements and pass both scenarios you will receive your certificate. We then work with you to help you with your next steps including NC credential renewal, releasing you to take the state credential exam, or National Registry next steps.
